Job Description:

Senior UNIX Administrator – Red Hat Linux

Location: Denver, CO

Type: Full Time

Compensation:  $85-100k target range; 15% short-term incentive bonus + Benefits

 

 

Purpose/Objective

This position will support the company’s UNIX environment including Oracle E-Business Suite application hosting. The UNIX Administrator will be responsible and accountable for the implementation, maintenance and administration of the company’s UNIX environment. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Day to day management of a large highly available, highly visible application and other Linux Servers.

·        Architect and configure a highly available and recoverable environment

·        Suggest & implement server scaling methodologies.

·        Design and implementation of the OS security model.

·        Maintain security audits & reports of server access and activity.

·        Responsible for system uptime & disaster recover planning per corporate guidelines.

·        Installation, support and maintenance of RedHat Linux ES/AS 5.1 servers.

·        Installation, Support and maintenance of App server platforms to include Oracle’s Fusion Middleware.

·        Troubleshooting all aspects of the RedHat Linux operating environments.

·        Performance tuning, networking, system security, IO monitoring and analysis.

·        UNIX Scripting (SH, KSH, Perl)

·        System security (wrappers, SSH, sudo, logging, auditing, intrusion analysis)

·        Work with core Internet technologies: TCP/IP, firewalls, DNS, SMTP, HTTP/SSL, Sendmail.

·        Patch and package management, user and group management.

·        Rack mounting of servers.

·        System backups

·        Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience

·        Successful candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or related field or equivalent professional experience.

·        7-10 years experience in UNIX administration; 5+ years recent Redhat experience in a large distributed environment with automated deployment tools.

·        Red Hat Satellite server experience, KickStart and Altiris deployment experience is a plus

·        Strong UNIX scripting skills

·        Strong understanding of EMC SAN Technologies.

·        Involvement in at least 1 project designing & implementing a large-scale business-critical operating system environment

·        At least 1 year experience with administering and Oracle E-Business software platform preferred.
