Job Description:

Global Buyer-Electronics

Principal Objectives: Source products internationally and domestically. Meet with Sr. Executives from selling firms and negotiate at a high level while also completing necessary day to day activities to improve the company bottom line. Reduce purchase costs and improve purchasing efficiency through negotiations with vendors and by recommending better methods, controls, and reporting procedures using cost analysis studies and activities. Maintain computer purchasing, planning and material control systems, and provide training and documentation in the use of these systems. Install and maintain reporting mechanisms to monitor vendor prices or contracts, purchased cost and cost changes in total by vendor and product.

Specific Accountabilities:. Source international items for purchase. Source Domestic items for purchase.

Ensure Arrow purchases, and receives the highest quality products at the lowest possible net cost. Negotiate every purchase.

Establish purchases and receipts to control flow of material and components to ensure lowest cost and proper stock levels.

Document, train, implement, and maintain PRMS System software used to control purchased products. Recommend process, system, service, pricing, and inventory control improvements.

Monitor and control Arrow's total material prices to ensure total component inventory dollars are maintained at budget (or planning) levels. Report purchasing activity, cost savings or increases, materials related system issues, and raw material inventory changes to the Purchasing Manager or company officers as specified.

Assist the Purchasing Manager and Vice Presidents in all negotiating including day-to-day needs or one time buys for machined parts and new equipment. Analyze project variances and conduct various cost studies. Cost studies will usually be in the area of cost reduction programs, component substitution recommendations, and feasibility studies. In general, supply supporting information as pertains to the daily operations and decision making process.

Travel to plant locations to audit reporting procedures, conduct studies related to purchasing requirements, inventory targets, and special projects as assigned.

The person holding this position should have a 4-year degree with 10 years of purchasing/manufacturing planning/Materials using ERP software on the AS/400. Must have purchased Electronics, Machining, plastics, paper. Prior experience in a printing operation is a plus. Experience purchasing from overseas suppliers is a must.
