COMPONENT ENGINEERING MANAGER 2007-Present



Administer and assist a team consisting of 12 scientists and technicians during the root cause analysis of component and module level defects. Provided laboratory tours, created a web site and lab brochure, including PowerPoint presentation to promote CE as a core competency. Accountable for $2M annual budget. Coordinate with all cross-functional groups on their daily activities, including accounts payable, capital accounting, sourcing, legal, human resources, manufacturing, and design teams. Work collaboratively with Automotive Quality Lab managers around the world to create a lab capabilities matrix. Conduct performance reviews two times each year.



- Developed and implemented 5S program in all Automotive Quality Laboratories.

- Significantly reduced overhead charges by $500K ~ 25%.

- Created financial processes for tracking and charging for analysis labor for domestic and international facilities.

- Determined and resolved substantial interpersonal team conflicts that affect team performance.

- Successfully drove continuous improvement in laboratory processes, competence, and capabilities.

TEST ENGINEERING MANAGER 1999-2007



Directed and oversaw a team of 20 hardware and software engineers in all facets of validation test equipment development for more than 20 concurrent projects. Carried out needs assessments, quoted new projects, qualified suppliers, and conducted performance reviews. Visualized next generation products, supported design reviews, and reviewed all work for overall quality. Temporarily reassigned to another division as project manager in order to raise quality and reduce delivery time of critical test systems. Developed group-wide quality procedures in compliance with ISO/TS 16949 standards. Responsible for the supplier selection and development to control costs and improve quality. Managed and developed the $4M annual budget. Developed and implemented the High Voltage Safety Training course.



- Led the development of Super Tin Can (STC) communications box from concept through production. The STC replaced more than $7000 in over the counter products yet cost less than $500 and was sold for 100% profit.

- Created electrical, mechanical, and PCB designs for validation test systems.

- Reduced cycle time from concept to equipment delivery by six weeks.

- Gained mastery in writing technical procedures and documents.

- Submitted three patent disclosures (two still pending).
