Supervisor Business Services, Bay Shore, FirstEnergy Fossil

2001 – 2009

Managed a staff of two in business services activities, including long range planning, operational and capital budgeting, forecasting, commitment tracking, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, month-end closing activities, and accounts payable.



• Championed the successful rollout and implementation of SAP, including training coordination and establishing budget/cost collection codeblock.

• Provided cost analysis support for the implementation of the Toyota “Lean” Workflow Optimization Process, including SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die).

• Implemented a real-time budget commitment tracking process resulting in:

o Improved cost control, and in the plant consistently achieving annual budget/forecast targets ($100K avg. annual budget underrun).

o Improved forecasting of quarterly and year-end costs.

o Improved monthly cost accruals.

• Championed, with plant management, process improvements enabling the plant to consistently achieve financial/operational goals and objectives:

o Improved budget oversight and controls.

o Developed results-driven five year business plans.

• Achieved a $5 million reduction in property tax valuations as a result of a review, with Corporate Tax Department, of Ohio Tax Codes regulating taxable plant and equipment.

• Conducted monthly capital project review meetings with Plant Directors and Project Managers insuring that budget, costs and operational goals were being achieved.
