12/04 – 4/05 Verizon Online/SUN – Engineering Writer (Contractor)
Joint Verizon/Sun project – goal was to migrate approximately 3.5 million users (residential and business) from existing Verizon mail platform (Open Wave) to the SUN JES messaging platform. Responsibilities included documenting/co-writing operations manuals and test cases. An example of the technologies/protocols used on project included: IMAP, POP, SMTP, MSS (Message Store Servers), SSO, MTA, and LDAP. 4/04 - 6/04 Carrius Technologies – Engineer/Writer (Contractor)
Product - Integrated Converged Services Platform – Programmable Voice over IP (VoIP) switching platform. System provided protocol transparency at the API for basic POTS types between ISDN, ISUP, CAS, H.323 and SIP. I was requested to assess the existing documentation suite and make recommendations to enhance the effectiveness and usability of future documentation efforts. This included reviewing technical specifications, API User Guide, Maintenance and Troubleshooting Manual, System Admin/Configuration Manual, and all other support documentation.
8/03- 4/04 - FAA – Systems Analyst/Engineering Writer (Contractor)
FAA project involved custom software called ASAP (Aviation Safety/Accident Prevention), designed to enhance the tracking, analysis and reporting on safety related issues using resources such as Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Accident/Incident Directives (AIDs), Daily Alerts (DAs), NTSB Recommendations, and Service Difficulty Reports (SDRs). Responsibilities included software analysis, writing requirements, working with developers to write and edit design and requirement specifications, writing/editing user and systems administration manuals. Software and supporting documentation was distributed nationally to FAA facilities across America. Responsibilities also included: creating requirement identification and control process, tagging schema, creating documentation control and versioning process, and creating all documentation templates.
3/03 - 5/03 Verizon - Analyst/Writer (Contractor) – RAD API S/W Project
RAD project focusing on API software designed to let customers manage phone calls, calendars, address books, e-mail messages, etc., through voice-based, Client, and URL interfaces. Customers could also send and receive text messages. Responsibilities: Wrote use cases and system requirements gathered from user group and developer sessions and from operating prototype API software. Created documentation templates, requirement tagging schema, and traceability matrices for BRD/SRD mapping. Tasks also included responding to change requests by writing new use cases and requirements for testing.
12/02 - 3/03 Capital One Financial – Analyst/Writer (Contractor)
Transaction Processing Systems Migration Project – RAD Project involved migration of financial institution software from multiple platforms to a single software platform on IBM mainframe (MVS OS/390) via 70 APIs. Project also included upgrade to Shaw Retail and Collections Version 4.5. Responsibilities included assisting with requirement development, performing traceability and architecture verification, and requirement, use case, and design documentation for 70 APIs. Ensured that use cases had been incorporated into requirements (traceability matrix) and API design, and performed network architecture verification for each API. Responsibilities also included development of documentation life cycle process, change control process, templates, versioning schema, and boilerplates.
9/00 - 12/02 Cirrus Logic - Engineering Writer (Contractor) – Telecommuting Project
Supported hardware design/code development team. Used technical specs, code, net lists, and schematics to write/edit programmer guides, hardware manuals, and data sheets for new programmable DSP architectures (with IC peripherals designed for digital media applications. In addition, assisted in verifying pin out and register bit assignments and settings and verifying third party example (and test) C++ code developed for customer use. Project also included development of templates, versioning schema, and boilerplates. Work examples include:

Defined and wrote MML command parameters, input/output response messages, and requirements for diagnostics, database, cross-connects, equipment, facilities, equipment management, facility management, network architecture and management, protection switching, security, and quality. Performed cross-product multi-platform requirements analysis to standardize requirements used in new optical products developed by Alcatel USA. Co-developed and managed centralized Doors database designed to be single requirements source to HW/SW developers for all optical products.
