Senior Audio Engineer/Company Director

Sonovision Studios is an Audio Post-Production facility servicing advertising and corporate clients in all areas of production. My duties included digital audio production using the Pro Tools DAW for a variety of local and international advertising brands. As a Company Director I was responsible for certain areas of company management.

1994 to 1997

QED Productions - Johannesburg, South Africa

Chief Audio Engineer

QED Productions was an Audio Post-Production facility servicing the advertising, and corporate markets in state-of-the-art digital audio production. The company was responsible for pioneering Digital audio production in South Africa using the then new SoundScape DAW system. As the head engineer I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of production as well as the training of junior engineers on the new DAW system.

The Bayou is a live music venue catering to local national and international acts passing through the Washington D.C. area. As Stage Manager/House Sound Engineer it was my responsibility to liaise with touring acts, coordinate the smooth staging of events and provide sound engineering for acts as required.

Avalon Sound Studios is a music production facility catering to a variety of local and national music artists. Being my first full-time position following university I was an assistant to the then Senior Engineer/Owner, Steve Murphy. My duties included assisting during sessions as well as office administration and studio maintenance. It was here that I first developed my skills in the technical and acoustical side of audio as Avalon Sound relocated to new premises and we built the studio from the ground up.

In addition to the usual â€œtools of the tradeâ€, I have specific experience with the ProTools and Nuendo DAW systems. I have many years of experience on both the PC and Mac platforms and am proficient with Microsoft Office applications. In a production environment, I have years of experience in creative direction including, copywriting and voice-over direction. Other experience includes ISDN, digital mixers, DSP, SFX and production music libraries.

Education

Ohio University (1986 to 1990)

BS Communications majoring in Audio Production with additional course work in television, film and music production. In addition to my studies I also was employed as the resident Audio Engineer and Teaching Assistant for courses in electronic music at the School of Music. Graduated with High Honors (Summa Cum Laude).
