November 2005-April 2006. Lansing State Journal, Lansing Community Newspapers Division, Lansing MI.
Circulation Manager. Responsibilities included managing 87 carriers involved in both motor and foot routes, for a
total of 185 routes, payroll, carrier recruitment and customer service. Rectified prior carrier turnover before tenure
in position and played a vital role in retaining and advancing advertiser support. Was responsible for three quarters
of all product distribution for Lansing Community Newspaper publications compared to all other districts, with a
total circulation of 51,000. Area from Lansing to St. Johns to Dewitt/Bath. Upon acquisition of Lansing Community Newspapers by the Lansing State Journal/Gannett, all former management of the Charlotte, Michigan division of the Lansing Community Newspapers were relieved of their positions.
June 2004-November 2005 . Lansing Community Newspapers, Charlotte, MI. Responsibilities included all aspects
of managing five community newspapers, including direct supervision of 140 carriers involved in motor and foot
routes, streamlined payroll, human resources and carrier recruitment. Eliminated previous carrier turnover,
securing regularly all routes functional. Eliminated all dump routes that were present before my tenure in the
position. Was to be placed in Circulation Director position before the merger of Lansing Community Newspapers
with the Lansing State Journal. Managed a total circulation of 60,000 papers encompassing a area from Grand
Ledge to St. Johns to Portland, to the Delta-Waverly Community to the Dewitt-Bath areas. Implemented dealer
program, increased sales at all racks, as well as increased dealer sales. Played sole instrumental role in increasing
Voluntary pay from $900 to over $3500 per Voluntary collection period.
July 2001-March 2004. The Argus Press. Owosso, MI. Circulation Manager/Newspapers In Education (NIE)
Director. Responsibilities included all daily operations of department, managing of 85 carriers involved in motor
and foot routes, circulation of 12,000 daily , 33,000 weekly, hiring, payroll and employee evaluations. Also
implemented new compensation procedure to streamline pay rates for routes. Redrew districts and combined
routes creating expansion into new areas. Designed and implemented newspaper sales promotions. Doubled single
copy sales by adding new dealers and racks, and cutting return rate 10%. Handled all purchasing and inventory
control for circulation and mailroom supplies and came in under budget every year. Set up NIE program,
distributed free newspapers to classrooms, averaging 400 per day, organized and distributed teacher guides to
schools. Obtained thousands of dollars from Sponsors for the NIE program. All other duties as needed.
Sept. 1999-July 2001- Leader Publications, Niles, MI. Circulation Director. Earned promotion in 2001 by
demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to do the job. Duties included managing five papers, with circulation
around 10,000 daily, 55,000 weekly. Supervision of 130 carriers, organizing routes, payroll, accounting,
distribution of Leaders and Daily Star’s handling of customer complaints and customer billing.
March 1998-Sept. 1999. Herald Palladium, Benton Harbor, MI. District Sales Manager.
Responsibilities included personal, payroll, accounting, customer service supervision, and management of 45
carriers involved in both motor and foot routes. Area from Benton Harbor to State Line Dowagiac to Lake
Michigan areas. Circulation of around 12,000 plus shopper guide of around 10,000.
