MASTER’S PROGRAM – BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
• BI - Implemented a Labor Analysis Business Intelligence solution for a fictitious national construction company.
• ETL - Existing data from diverse data sources were consolidated into a uniform SQL Server 2005 database. SQL Server Integration Services was used to define imports of the data, transform the data (cleaning), build scheduling packages, to define integration flow, log data error exceptions and orphaned data and to define Database Maintenance Plans and send ETL progress emails.
• OLAP - Created multiple cubes, dimensions and business critical KPIs using SQL Server Analysis Services representing aggregations in several different ways - hierarchically and using custom groupings that the company will use to analyze performance. Created several MDX queries according to business requirements.
• SSRS - Developed several detail and summary reports including line and pie charts, trend analysis reports and sub-reports according to business requirements using SQL Server Reporting Services.
• MOSS - Implemented business intelligence dashboards using MOSS 2007 Report Center and Excel Services producing different summary results based on user view and role membership.
• MSPPS - Created score cards with executive summary dashboards using MS Office Performance Point Server 2007 Dashboard Designer that display performance monitoring measures for sales, sales trends, and book return rates for a fictitious book publisher deriving data from a SQL Server 2005 OLAP data source and deployed them to SharePoint sites. The dashboards also contain drill-down capabilities to view book sales by book category and customer, through summary reports and sales trend charts.
• MSO - Created score cards with advanced set of dashboards using MS Office Performance Point Server 2007 Dashboard Designer that feature executive summary measures for revenue, overhead costs, material purchases, labor and profitability trends for a fictitious construction company extracting data from a SQL Server 2005 OLAP data source and deployed them to SharePoint sites. The dashboards also contain pages to view performance by employee, by region, and by quarter enabling end-users to make filter selections.

DATABASE
• Naviquest Development Team - Business Intelligence functional role. Responsibilities within the project team included: Managing the IIS server, SQLserver Administration, Database Analysis, QA lead, oversight on product documentation writer and consultation on business user solution requirements.
• Hands on SQL dba experience was augmented during the process of becoming systems engineering expert on the new product. Used SQLscript to manage MSSQL 2000 database schema, generated Erwin script files, verifying, and editing prior to creating and deploying new applications. Used Source Safe version control, MSI packaging, and ArcServe backup/restore.
• Traveled to client site to troubleshoot and resolve lock-up issues. Using strong SQL troubleshooting skills, determined root cause of metadata corruption within the SQLbase engine. Results: reinstallation of SQL2000, the Naviquest(beta) application and verifying correct metadata loading.
• Developed database schema, performed data conversions (ETL), and prepared report templates.

• DATABASE - Developed complex query scripts to create tables, indexes, establish table relationships, stored procedures, and develop formatted reports. SQLtalk scripting, SQL database operations, and Windows server tools were the primary methods of supporting the customer base. SQL used on a daily basis to discover and resolve technical, operational and ETL issues.
• LAN/WAN ADMINISTRATION - Exercised initiative in assuming LAN administration for department concurrent with other roles and duties; capitalized on Novell CNE status to maintain integrity of Windows network and mentor promising technical staff.
