Work independently and as part of a team as a sheetmetal mechanic on the F/A-18 line (ISR) In Service Repair Shop bldg 94 North Island. I am familiar with aircraft systems and sheetmetal mechanic, structural maintenance type of work, DEPOT level, on F/A-18 Hornet aircraft. I have the ability, skills, and knowledge to layout, form, make, repair and assemble metals parts or equipment for the F/A-18. My duties include corrosion control of aluminum, titanium and steel substructures to remove exfoliation, pitting, and surface corrosion, then applying alodine and primer, according to structural repair manuals and engineering blueprints. I perform (AFC) Airframes Changes per Navair blueprints specification. I have performed F/A-18 PMI-1 and sheet metal Mods. Inventory parts for F/A-18 sheet metal modifications per data sheets and blueprint specifications. Safety is always observed by wearing appropriate respirators, eye/face shields, and gloves for protection of skin. I also perform repairs according to engineering repair manuals. This includes fabricating parts from 7075-0 and 7075-T6 aluminum, titanium, and steel, locating parts on aircraft, layout a hole pattern, drilling up with step-drilling techniques for maintaining hole quality. I am familiar with the hazards of working with the different types of metal that are found on the F/A -18 Hornet, including berrylium, copper, and the hazards of the radar-absorbing paint used in the intake area. I have used the following tools and equipment: bandsaw, hole puncher, metal roller, metal bender, shear cutter, cold working machine, rivet gun, drill motors (high/low speed), countersinks, dotco grinder right angel drill motor, high speed cutter cherrymax, gun jobolt gun, nut runners, cleco guns, complicated shop tools and equipment, for example, hand or powered crimping, burring, turning, and bending machines. I have been to a Fatigue Technology Inc. Split Sleeve Coldworking Expansion Training course. I have work in a group leader role, communicating with supervisor when lead man is not present. I work well with management, E&E Engineering, Mechanics, Electricians and assemblers with a positive attitude and quality workmanship. I read and interpret blueprints and apply it to F/A-18 job specifications. I read and apply MSDS specifications of sealants, primers, lubes, solvents and other chemicals per F/A-18 blueprint applications. I use measuring instruments such as protractors; calipers; snap ring, height, depth, dial, and screw pitch gauges; and other hand measurement devices to measure plans and projects. I use sheet metal systems or items to evaluate structural damage and plan and lay out repair and modification projects; use complex mathematics to figure irregular curves, angles, and pitch; and pattern, template making to develop clear project instructions for lower workers. I work with Hazmat to ensure proper uses and disposal of specified F/A-18 of all know chemicals, solvents, etc..

Set up and operates sheet metal fabricating machines to cut, bend and form sheet metal to specified dimensions. Works from verbal instructions, sketches, blueprints, travelers, and other written instructions. Uses belt sanders and air grinders to prepare details for proper fit. Work as lead man when lead was not available. I worked with cold and hot sheet metal working assembly applications. I have used expander machines, swagging machines, sheet metal cutting machines, bump press machines, 100ton,150ton and 1500ton metal forming presses. I have used the following measuring tools; height gauges, calipers, protractors, squares, etc.. Worked with Engineers on complex projects to ensure a proper products.
